"I liked learning a new coding language (C/C++), meeting new people and the challenge of the project. I enjoyed the interaction with the other students in the program especially on Fridays and the group presentations and the freedom given to me as part of being a research student."

The Story of ODCSSS 2007...

"The human memory is a powerful yet clearly fragile construct. We can remember the address of a friend from 15 years ago but we cannot remember where we left
our car keys!"

"Technology is supposed to help us in our daily life so why not help us augment our natural memory?"

"In addition to short term memory issues people are also collecting more and more data about their life experiences in a variety of formats which is scattered across a plethora of devices. It’s clear they wish to use, share and keep such collections for their own and others use."

"The problem isn’t limited to simply dealing with media in multiple forms such as audio, video, still images and text but also includes placing such media in its correct context by processing the media or from correlating it with sensor and environmental data."

"By combing these data sources one can offer technologies that assist people’s memories in both the short and long term."

"Technologies for aiding human memory, came about as a theme
in response to our collective experience with the ODCSSS students of 2006 and their feedback along with feedback from our industrial collaborators and from external review suggestions
in 2005 and 2006."
