Distribution of video services in two-hop wireless networks

Odysseus:
2009

A state-of-the-art cluster-based solution for two-hop wireless networks has been recently designed to enable the wireless network operators to provide efficient triple play services (voice, data and video) to the end-users. This project aims at investigating the performance of an adaptive and dynamically varying cluster-based solution for next generation video-on-demand (VoD) and multimedia streaming over mobile/handheld wireless devices. The project involves the design, modelling (using Network Simulator – NS2) and testing of the adaptive solution for distributing video content in such an environment. The testing will compare this approach with other adaptive and non-adaptive solutions.

Demonstratable Outcome:

Model for adaptive video distribution, simulation results and a technical paper.
