Ezgi Cicek from Bilkent University, Turkey. "The social life of search"

Ezgi is a second year Computer Engineering student from Bilkent University, Turkey. She will be studying in Computer Science as an exchange student in the UC San Diego for 2009-2010. This summer, Ezgi will be working on the project "The Social Life of Search" as an intern in the ODCSSS under the supervision of Prof. Barry Smyth. She loves traveling as she has traveled 8 countries in Europe by train (interRail) in the summer of 2008. She is fond of open source software and tries to contribute as much as she can.

Sandra is originally from Oradea, Romania where she attended “Emanuil Gojdu” National College in the field of Mathematics-Informatics studying through an intensive English class. She is a student at "Computer Science and Engineering" Department from "Politehnica" University of Timisoara, Romania and currently she is studying at the Facultad de Informatica - Universidad "Politecnica" de Madrid, in Spain, through the Erasmus Program.

Caitriona is from South Kildare, Ireland. She started her B.Sc in Computing Studies/Mathematical Science in 2006 in NUI Galway and hopes to graduate in 2010. When not trawling through endless rubbish on the internet, Caitriona enjoys swimming and basketball. She also harbours a deep hate for people asking “Why don’t you have a gmail account?”. She just doesn't.

Kevin O'Flynn is originally from Bantry in west Cork. Raised in a quiet rural setting he attended Ardscoil Phobail in Bantry from 2002 to 2007. After his leaving cert he began his B.eng in Mechatronics in Dublin City University where he hopes to graduate in 2011.
Here Kevin enjoys college life and in his spare time he enjoys skateboarding and socialising with his friends. He is looking forward to the ODCSSS summer school and hopes to do some travelling afterwards.

Shruti is originally from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, and has been living in Rihand Nagar (NTPC project), distt. Sonebhadra Uttar Pradesh, India since 1988. She finished her senior secondary from Rihand Nagar in 2005. Then Continuing with her interest in Science and Engineering, she is currently pursuing her B-Tech from Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. She will be completing her B-tech in summers 2010 and she plans to do her masters in Multihop Wireless transmission after that.

Haolin Wei is from Qiqihar, China. From 2003 he attended ShiYan High school for 3 years where he developed his interests in Mathematics, Biology and physics. In Sep 2006 he came to Ireland and study in Dublin International College for 1 year. He is currently studying Electronic Engineering at The Dublin City University, Ireland, and heading for a Bachelor Honors’ Degree by 2011.

Thibaud is originally from Colmar, France, and moved to Quimper in 1994. In 2006 he entered a preparation school for national competitive exams, specializing in mathematics and physics, for two years. Now he is studying Computer Science at the ENSIIE, Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Informatique pour l'Industrie et l'Entreprise, a selective engineering school preparing, heading for an MSc degree by 2010. During Summer 2008, he worked on SEDLANE, an emulator of wireless networks, as a trainee.He really enjoys snowboarding, and surfing, which he practices every year. He also likes playing tennis.

Sigitas is originally from Kaunas, Lithuania, moved to Dublin in 2005 with the intention of enrolling in a computer science course in one of the fine universities the city has to offer. He was accepted to the BSc Computer Science course at UCD in 2006, and is currently finishing his third year of study, set to graduate in 2010.

Catalin comes from Romania, but is now an undergraduate student at Jacobs University Bremen, in Germany. He is a second year student, majoring in Computer Science and will (hopefully) graduate in 2010. He graduated from high-school in the top 10% of his class, at "Tudor Vianu" National Computer Science High-School, in Bucharest, Romania.

Anara graduated High School no.2 with profound study of foreign languages in 2005. During school years she showed interest in different fields of knowledge: Mathematics, Physics, languages. That year she entered Kazakh National Technical University named after Satpayev and gained an educational scholarship for a degree in Petroleum Engineering. In 2007 Anara was awarded Bolashak Presidential Scholarship Program to study abroad, where recipients are fully funded by Kazakhstani Government. She is currently studying BSc in Computer Science at University College Dublin on the second year.

Ben Kirwin was born and raised in western Canada (Edmonton, Alberta). He now spends most of his time in Montréal, where he studies Philosophy and Computer Science at McGill University. He expects to receive his degree by 2011 or so. When not programming or philosophizing, Ben seems to spend much of his time collecting old electronics, odd music, and portraits of strangers. |

Jianhua Shao was born, living and studying in Zhejiang Province of China before University. During this time, he showed big internesting in math and science. He is currently doing BSc Hons Computer Science degree in University of Nottingham UK and will graduate in 2010. He touched Ubiquitous Computing and fell in love with in first year university study. He loves basketball and enjoys watching hurling.
