ODCSSS 2006 Quote

"The enjoyed the actual research and the work. Also, I quite enjoyed the "learning curve". Having learned a lot in little time and putting it to use gave me a sense of satisfaction".

Sensing learner interest through eye tracking

Odysseus:
2009

It is widely acknowledged that e-learners differ in skills, preferences and may seek different information when accessing Web based educational systems.
Therefore, various adaptive and personalised e-learning systems (AeLS) were proposed in the last decade that capture and analyse various user-related features, and personalise the educational material thus optimising users’ learning experience.
This project will design and develop an AeLS that follows learner interest in certain topics through eye tracking and personalises the learning process by providing supplementary educational material. Tests and evaluations involving students will assess the benefits brought by the personalised e-learning system in terms of learning outcome and performance. Special equipment will be used to observe record and analyse learner behaviour and interaction.

Demonstratable Outcome:

Personalised e-learning system and a technical paper.

Supervisors and Mentors:
Dr. Cristina Muntean
Required Equipment:

Desktop for subjects, access to a server to deploy the AeLS, special equipment for eye tracking and monitoring learner behaviour.
