ODCSSS 2006 overview

ODCSSS had 17 students in 2006 who selected from a list of 34 project proposals, as submitted by research investigators from both UCD and DCU. These projects were clustered in 4 themes of "Speech and Language Processing, Imaging and Visualisation, Pervasive Computing and Software Engineering".

UCD-SIFT @ TREC

Odysseus:
2010

In 2009 the UCD – SIFT (Segmented Information Retrieval Group) entered the Text Retrieval Conference's (TREC) Web track. TREC is an annual international competition open to academia and industry. Its purpose is to evaluate novel information retrieval techniques on large collections of real world data. We submitted our approaches to data fusion (combining multiple information retrieval systems), probFuse, interFuse, and slideFuse. The input systems used were provided by the terrier IR package.

This year we hope to enter the contest again. The intern student on this project would be a key member of this team. The student will be responsible for helping the team in the evaluation of new techniques for TREC, developing new individual techniques and also in the submission of the TREC runs.
