Diversity

The academics in Odysseus along with the mentors and postgraduate students form a very diverse group in terms of nationality, language, experiences, age, cultural background and gender. As such we welcome applications from a broad range of candidates to help us reach out to groups not currently represented well within our research student base.

University Sites

University College Dublin (UCD) is Ireland’s largest university, and was founded in 1908 by Royal Charter. UCD is located on a 350 acre park campus at Belfield in a suburb on the south side of Dublin. Its student population is approximately 22,000, including 2,000 international students. Approximately 25% of the student body are engaged in postgraduate study and research.

Dublin City University (DCU) is a university situated on the Northside of Dublin city. Created as the National Institute for Higher Education, Dublin in 1975 and was elevated to university status in 1989 by statute. Its student population is approximately 13,000, including 500 research postgraduates and over 1,800 taught postgraduate students plus around 3,000 distance education students.

Although on different sides of Dublin city, DCU and UCD are connected by a direct public bus route and a one-way trip will take less than an hour on public transport. The two Universities have partnerships and collaborations right across the academic spectrum, including extensive research collaborations. These include joint research groups, co-supervision of student, the Adaptive Information Cluster (AIC) and Lero the Irish Software Engineering Center (Lero).
